How to Measure
Before ordering, measure the outside height of your window frame where you plan to mount your shutters. Accurate measurements will help you choose the right shutter height. For dog-eared tops, allow up to 1″ above the frame; all other styles should match the frame height.
Measuring Steps
- Identify the window. Choose the window where you plan to mount your shutters.
- Measure the outside height. Measure from the bottom of the outside window frame to the top of the outside window frame. Record the measurement in inches.
- Choose the appropriate height. For standard shutter styles, the shutter height should match the height of the window frame. For shutters with a “Dog-eared” top, allow up to 1 inch above the window frame.
- Check your measurement. Double-check your measurement before placing your order. Accurate measurements help you select the appropriate shutter height.
- Unusual windows. If your window has an unusual shape, feature, or mounting situation that makes these measurements unclear, contact HM Shutters before ordering so you can confirm how to measure it.
Installation
Your shutters arrive ready to be hung. A bullet level is included for your convenience.
Caring for Your Shutters
Your shutters require no special care. They may be left in their natural finish or painted or stained to match your home. Natural expansion and contraction can occur as temperatures and humidity change.
